The Scottish Women’s Premier League (‘SWPL’) and Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 (‘SWPL2’) have been given a new look as they relaunch under the responsibility of the Scottish Professional Football League (‘SPFL’).
The rebrand, developed with the support of UEFA Grow and Glasgow-based agency Frame, marks a new era for women’s football in Scotland amid growing interest in the game across the globe.
St Johnstone WFC are eager for their first game in the new-look SWPL2, and kick off at home to Scottish football stalwart Queen’s Park on Sunday 7 August (ko 12:30pm).
Fiona McIntyre, managing director of the SWPL, said:
“It’s an absolutely brilliant time to be launching a new League, and players, managers and supporters have a real sense of anticipation about what lies ahead.
We believe this is the start of something really special as we enter into a new era for women’s football, and that the SWPL will be at the forefront of driving up interest and participation in women’s and girls’ football right across the country.
We’re all looking forward to the action kicking off on Sunday and wish all clubs across SWPL 1 and SWPL 2 the best of luck for the season ahead.”
St Johnstone WFC is entering its 5th season in the SWPL and plays its home games at Jeanfield Swifts FC’s Riverside Stadium in Perth.
